HOW PIES should be made…

Mama Jo Homestyle Pies has been baking and selling fresh baked pies since 1993. We are a family owned business, now in its third generation.

We offer a wide variety of fresh baked pies (36 flavors of pies in three sizes), pastries and cookies. For more than 25 years we’ve made our pies from scratch, with no added fluff, just the way grandma made them. All of our pies are baked and sold on the same day, guaranteeing the ultimate freshness!

IT STARTS AT 5AM EVERY DAY.

Each morning a team of bakers start at 5 am to prepare pies, pastries and cookies. Everything is made from scratch, every day. Mama Jo Pies uses only the best ingredients, with no additional fillers or preservatives.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CRUST.

What's our secret? Well, we're not really going to tell you.... but Mama Jo’s perfect flaky crust made with real lard is our foundation. The family’s secret pie recipe has never changed. Just taste it, and see for yourself!

WHO IS MAMA JO?

First Generation: Originally baking for friends and family, Eleanor Sterna and Virginia Vacsi (our Grandma and her sisters) started baking pies for local weddings. Requests started to pour in for larger gatherings, and news of these pies spread.

Second Generation: Our Mom, Johanna Mann (Mama Jo) learned the art of pie baking from the best, and in 1993 started Mama Jo Pies with her brother, Peter. The business started in Vermilion, Ohio, growing to its 14,000 foot space in Amherst, Ohio today.

Third Generation: Today, Ken and Jenna (Mama Jo's children), continue the baking tradition, taking Mama Jo Pies into its third generation as a family-owned and operated business. Ken oversees the baking, and Jenna oversees the sales, marketing, and front-of-house operations. They are excited to continue to grow and take Mama Jo Homestyle Pies into the next generation.
